A telephone conversation with my mother

Me: I saw 'Bruno' today.

Mum: Yes I was thinking of seeing that one myself.

Me: I think you'll like it. I thought it was better than 'Borat', much funnier.

Mum : I didn't like 'Borat'. Do you think Bruno is really gay?

Me: He's not gay mum.

Mum: Are you sure? He looks and talks very gay.

Me: Mum, he's not gay, he's married to Isla Fisher and has a kid.

Mum: No, Borat is married to Isla Fisher....

My Mum was a librarian. She used to bring me home Harold Robbins and other 'adult' books when I was a teen - knowing that I'd read the darned things!

She also asked me one time if I'd get her and her friends some pot. She knew that I was well into it and had very easy access. To this day I rue the fact that I did not. I don't do it myself anymore and Mum is heading into her late 70s, but I'll bet you she'd be game if I was!

Still - I'm guessing Mum wouldn't like either Borat or Bruno. She'd not laugh at Monty Python either while my Dad and self were lying on floor howling....

What was my point again?

Hey Frankie, let me share a Mum story...Was living with a friend when I was younger (much younger). She had put a bong behind her couch and forgot about it. Her mum came to visit from interstate and did some cleaning. She said to my flatmate "what an ingenious cockroach catcher you have, I found it behind your lounge...what do you put in the water to attract the cockies?".... we just both stared at her blankly. She was so genuine, it was so sweet....

I'm sure everyone has a Mum story. And the scarey thing is that our kids might end up telling them one day.... :(

oh god that's funny Nicole. I had a similar incident once. Mum found it and I told her it was 'personal' and she looked at my really oddly and left. I think she thought it was some sort of sex toy!

You gals are great though - this Canuck enjoys reading - cockroach traps and sex toys?
